I do not think there is anything else like it in Scarborough. The bird life was an unexpected bonus. From time to time, a couple of kookaburras sit in the neighbour's tree in late afternoon, singing to the valley. The courtyard is a wonderful entertaining area. Surprisingly, the trees reduce the strong afternoon summer breeze to a gentle wisp making it very pleasant to sit out there watching the view. I was amazed that during the winter months, the wind goes right over the top, but looking down into the valley it is the trees look dramatic. Our home is very easy to maintain. There is a timer for the reticulation system. The only maintenance of our yard which we do is every couple of days we use a powered blower to blow the leaves away, 5 to 10 minutes is all it takes, that's all. The air-conditioner was our best ever addition. The ceiling is fully insulated. Our house is warm and snug in the winter and cool and welcoming in the summer. And, we have installed a transfer fan to take air from the lounge to the bedrooms. Our office alcove used to be an old rusty potbelly stove surrounded by dark ugly red bricks. We were thinking that a large picture window on that wall would look fantastic. The complex is very quiet and the bus stop (421, Scarborough to/from Stirling train station) just outside the driveway is very convenient. We get good ADSL2+ speed from the Scarborough Exchange.
